Relaxed Dress code

Updated Sunday, September 27, 2026

The following Relaxed Dress code is temporarily applied during designated activities and within the areas demarcated and indicated by the Staff. Outside of these limits, the ordinary Dress code applies.

Purpose

Freedom of expression and individual creativity have always been the foundational values of PowsUp! Values through which it moderates the events, conventions, and meetups it organizes, as well as the online spaces it manages. The multifaceted nature and individual personal approaches that each of us has to experiencing the furry community mean that imposing limits on these modes of expressing creativity and individuality may be considered unfair, senseless, or anachronistic by some, while simultaneously perceived as insufficient and out of place by others.

Aware that making choices about what is allowed and what must be prohibited will always cause dissatisfaction for a part of the community, through these regulations PowsUp! aims to provide spaces that allow as much individual freedom of expression as possible, through clothing and accessories, without exceeding limits dictated not by a top-down vision, elevating ourselves to judges of good taste or, even worse, engaging in kink shaming, but established solely and exclusively through the lens of the safety and well-being of the attending participants.

A clothing style that for some may be the ultimate form of self-expression can, for others, be a source of deep discomfort and be seen as contrary to what one would expect to see at a furry event. The goal of this Relaxed Dress code is to give all event attendees the chance to be themselves, without fear of being judged, while always safeguarding their own and others' well-being and safety.

Every prohibition reaffirmed and every allowance made relative to the standard Dress code is the result of careful consideration, weighing the pros and cons between safety risks and freedom of expression that follow from applying each rule, and is never made lightly.

In case of doubts, we invite you to contact the PowsUp! Staff at [email protected] or directly in person during an ongoing event.

It is strongly recommended that participants ask in advance about the usability of a certain outfit in case of uncertainty.
